Location: Porcupine district, ON
Commodities: VMS and VMS-AU mineralization
About the company: Privately owned, based in Vancouver, BC
Introduction
The project was commenced in May 2010 by a junior exploration company based out of Vancouver, BC. There are twenty two claims in Reaume township, Porcupine Mining District, ON. The prospect is showing signs of VMS-Au type mineralization.
Historic data
The area under study was previously explored as a part of the Ontario Geological Survey (Far North Geological Mapping) Initiative. It was later studied by Promiseland Exploration, Ltd using ground frequency-domain EM geophysical survey (2010), followed by an airborne VTEM time domain geophysical survey (2013), followed by a downhole DC/IP (Earthprobe) geophysical survey.
In addition to a drilling program carried out by Promiseland Exploration, Ltd in 2011, there are historic drilling data available for the region through the department of Northern development and Mines.
Project milestones
- May-June 2010 – Initial claim staking. Initial two claims were staked by the Pormiseland Exploration team in Reaume township (Porcupine Mining Division)
- August – September 2010: Ground frequency-domain EM geophysical survey was carried out. Original claims were covered by a detailed ground geophysical low frequency EM profiling grid at 50 m line spacing. Further the data were calculated into units of apparent resistivity and inverted using state of the art 3D Frequency Domain Inversion software (EH3D), developed at the University of British Columbia (UBC-GIF). The preliminary interpretation of the data allowed delineating a conductive zone in a meta-volcanic complex, previously unexplored. The final interpretation of geophysical data was carried out by P.Geo and was done with consideration of previously available government airborne magnetic data. The magnetic data were also inverted using University of British Columbia 3D inversion code (Mag3D) The combination of the 3D inversion results and a-priori knowledge of the geology based on the historic drilling allowed to build a comprehensive 3D pseudo-lithology model and select two drill-targets for the upcoming drilling program (further DH-001 and DH-002).
- March – April 2011: Drilling program. The drilling program was carried out on the previously selected drilling targets, outlined as a result of interpretation of geophysical data. DH-001 was drilled to the depth of 102 meters and then was stopped, after intersecting continuous 70m interval of serpentinized peridotite. DH-001 is cased and can be re-entered at any time. DH-002 was also cased to the depth of 35 meters and intersected mineralized zone at the depth of 82m, which can be followed to the depth of 104 meters with minor disruptions. The mineralization is semi-massive and has shows four types of sulphides.
- May 2011- June 2011: The core intervals from DH-002 were analysed at ActLabs (Saskatchewan), confirming the four types of sulphides previously seen in the core. The sulphide samples were further studied mneralogically.
- September 2011: Results of the drilling program were corroborated with the geophysical interpretation and presented as a case study at the SEG meeting in San Antonio, TX, resulting in a publication (Kaminski et al, 2011).
- January 2012: Full structural interpretation of the region was completed, outlining areas for 2012 - 2013 exploration program and further claim staking. Structural interpretation delivered by Anton Krasilnikov, Ph.D. a leading geologist in Russian-based major mining corporation “Polyus Zoloto”.
- February 2012: Eight new mining claims were acquired
- February 2013: A 43-101 report was completed covering the original and newly acquired claims
- March 2013: Eleven new claims are acquired making the prospect into a total of 21 contiguous claims
- May 2013: 43-101 report is pre-approved by TSX
- June2013: An airborne time domain EM (VTEM) geophysical survey is completed over 21 claim blocks with line spacing from 100 to 200 meters, followed by state of the art interpretation of geophysical data carried out by P.Geo. from Geotech, Ltd
- July 2013: A downhole DC/IP (Earthprobe) survey is completed in and around drill-holes (DH-001 and DH-002) confirming the presence of massive-sulphide type target near DH-002
- September 2013: State of the art Maxwell plate modeling is carried out by a P.Geo from Geotech, Ltd andKM Geophysics, LLC, revealing 11 new drill targets over the claim blocks
Proposed future work
- June 2017-August 2017: Follow-up ground TDEM geophysical survey over some of the 11 newly selected drilling targets in order to confirm the parameters of the objects to be drilled
- Winter 2017-2018: Extended drilling program, based on the results of the interpretation of new and historic geophysical results.
